Twenty childcare workers from Ballymun receive certificates from Roisn Shortall, T.D..

Twenty childcare workers from ten Ballymun childcare facilities received National Childrens Nurseries Association certificates of attendance in childcare skills training. Risn Shortall, Labour T.D presented certificates to Ballymun Childcare Providers on June 29th (07) in the Ballymun Plaza. In her key note speech Roisin emphasized the valuable role of childcare staff in making a difference to young childrens lives.

Past manager of the Dublin North West Childcare Resource Centre, Lisa Walsh joined in the celebrations and acted as MC on the night. Lisa had been instrumental in making a successful Dormant accounts proposal to fund the training. She commended participants for their commitment to complete the ten month training programme outside working hours.

Participants received National Childrens Nurseries Association certificates of attendance in the following modules which included Child Development, Introduction to Childcare Curriculum, and Playing with Under 5s, Managing Challenging Behaviour, Introduction to Child Psychology and Equality and Diversity. Participants also received certificates in Manual Handling, Health and Safety Procedures in a Childcare Setting and briefing on Children First guidelines.

Also in attendance were the NCNA tutors Lindsey Heppenstall and Mel Duff, Catherine Blackburn, NCNA and Jan Davis, HSE.

The course was supported by Dormant Account Funding, Ballymun Partnership & the Dublin North West Childcare Resource Centre.
