Never Underestimate a Single Act of Kindness


Peter Sheridan acts as MC at the launch of exhibition of fond childhood memories.

Minister for State Pat Carey, T.D opened an exhibition in the Atrium, Civic Buildings, Ballymun on Oct 15th 2007 at 12.30pm, of early childhood meories of local parents in Ballymun. Over 150 local parents and children contributed quotes which reflected the theme Mol an ige agus Tiocfaidh s - Praise the young and they will grow.


Marian Hackett (Principal Holy Spirit Girls N.S)., Noirin Coghlan (Childcare Coordinator Ballymun Partnership) Dr.Vincent Malony, Hazel Walsh (parent), Honora Hanafin (Home School Liaison Teacher Holy Spirit Girls N.S.) Peter Young (Home School Liaison Teacher Holy Spirit Boys N.S.) .

The internationally renowned writer, director and storyteller Peter Sheridan evoked fond childhood memories by giving an enlightened and amusing account of the growing up in Dublin. Local parents Gladys Hand and Ann Doyle referred to how small acts of kindness help to build a childs self-esteem and create lasting fond childhood memories. Heino Schonfeld, director of the Centre of Early Childhood Development and Education explained quality early childhood care and education must value and support the role of parents. The exhibition will continue until Friday October 19th and is free of charge.

Actively supporting parents is critical to developing and supporting children to grow and actively participate in the regeneration of Ballymun and provide a better future for all. says Noirn Coghlan, the Ballymun Partnership Childcare Coordinator.

A packed house attended a parenting talk by Ballymuns answer to supernanny Dr. Vincent Malony on the Ten Commandments of Parenting hosted by the Holy Spirit Girls National School.
