"Survival is the New Success" was the first meeting of 52 employers and businesses within Ballymun and North Dublin to look at an approach to counteract the challenges faced by local employers and business due to the downturn.
The meeting invited key speakers from an international and national stage; Minister, Pat Carey T.D.; Declan Murphy, former Director OECD Investment Compact; Dave McLaughlin, Boston World Partnerships and Declan Dunne CEO Ballymun Whitehall Partnership. The speakers covered the local to international perspectives of the situation faced by employers and businesses, development models used and practical examples of such.
With a panel of key local business leaders; Tony Boyle, president of the North Dublin Chambers and Ronan King Chair of Ballymun Regeneration Ltd the final discussions led by those present reiterated the need for the implementation of an Employer Led Forum.
A meeting to develop an Employer Led Forum from the interested attendees will follow as it is only through collaboration and local innovation that businesses and communities will develop to creative strategies to thrive and overcome these challenges. The core task for this group will be to support trade and jobs and provide confidence for the future development of this area.
