CAG Seeks New Members
In February of this year Ballymun Partnership as directed by the Department of Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs extended its area of operation to include parts of Whitehall, Santry and Ballygall (see attached brochure for map) and was officially relaunched in February 2009 as Ballymun Whitehall Area Partnership. New Forum to Prepare Coherent Plan for Community Facilities in Ballymun

The Community Advisory Group (CAG) has been established to provide a transparent, open and democratic process for the selection of community representatives to the Board of Ballymun Partnership and to advise the organisation on community issues. The proposal for this new structure was developed by the Community Development Working Group of the Partnership and is in keeping with new guidelines from the Department of Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs. It is hoped that the Community Advisory Group will provide a model of good practice for selecting and supporting community representatives and to advise Ballymun Partnership on community issues

Two members from the following nine sectoral networks have been nominated to the Community Advisory Group.

  • Ballymun Neighbourhood Council and Resident Associations

Membership of the Community Advisory Group was increased in July 2009 to included organizations and residents groups from the Partnership extended boundary of Whitehall, Ballygall and Santry. Currently, the two new representatives are Bernadette Carberry (Larkhill Residents Association) and Ian Croft (Santry Community Forum).

Community Directors

On the 20th October 2008, the following people were nominated as Community Directors to the board of Ballymun Partnership:

  • Anne Marie Hughes, BYAP;
  • Paddy Haughey, BCON;
  • Mick Creedon, BJC;
  • Frank Rock, Mens Centre;
  • Amanda Murphy, Womens Resource Centre;
  • Caroline Boyle, Childcare Providers Network.

At the Community Advisory Group meeting on September 1st 2009, Bernadette Carberry (LARA) and Ian Croft (Santry Community Forum) were elected as new community directors.
